In its continuous effort to strengthen and to build a long-term relationship with San Francisco State University (SFSU), Sodexo co-sponsored Taste of the Bay, which took place at the beautiful and scenic St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, California this past November. Taste of the Bay is a student-run fundraising event organized by three of the school’s hospitality management organizations, which include the Hospitality Management Society, National Society of Minorities in Hospitality and Club Managers Association of America. The main purpose of this stellar event is to raise funds for scholarships and program needs for future leaders in the hospitality industry.
The extremely popular Taste of the Bay drew more than 450 attendees from around the region who enjoyed an array of gourmet fare prepared by top chefs from more than 30 Bay Area restaurants and wineries. In addition to the delectable food, attendees were also treated to exciting and innovative beverages throughout the evening.
Sodexo had a tremendous presence at the event and was represented by 6 local operators to include Lisa Rennels, Human Resource Director, Senior Services; Sue Delez, District Manager, Senior Services; Steve Kellogg, District Manager, Corporate Services; Michel Rossano, General Manager, Corporate Services; Heidi Nuti, Assistant General Manager, Campus Services; and Emmylou Tolentino, Manager, Senior Services. As a bronze-level event sponsor, there was an excellent opportunity for networking and branding for the company. According to one Sodexo attendee, “The event was fantastic. The students did an outstanding job of organizing. Sodexo will definitely participate again next year.”
In the end, the event raised a record $75,000 – more than double the amount raised last year.
