Sodexo Connects with Employees of the Past to Help Meet Goals of the Future
by Jennifer Heth, Sodexo Senior Recruiter
Have you ever left an employer for what you thought would be a great career move with a new organization, only to find that the grass was not greener on the other side? In today’s fast-paced labor market, this type of scenario is a common one. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics states that 67% of employees leaving a company would consider coming back.
To maintain our connections and keep the door open to our former employees, retirees and interns, Sodexo has formed an alumni network called Reconnexions. The Reconnexions Alumni Community kicked off on October 17th with the launch of Sodexo’s Reconnexions Web site, www.sodexoalumni.com, which will serve as a meeting place and resource for former Sodexo employees, allowing members to reconnect with former friends and coworkers, make valuable business connections, get the latest industry buzz and keep current with career and special project opportunities.
Lisa Garden, Senior Director of Talent Acquisition at Sodexo, helped to spearhead the Reconnexions initiative and feels that “former employees can be a great source of referrals for Sodexo, as well as act as company ambassadors,” and that a unique attribute of this program is “the Reconnexions site will allow us to share specific non-traditional positions to our retirees or to those who are getting ready to retire, making it possible for them to continue to contribute their expertise to the organization after retirement.”

The program is not only geared towards retirees. Sodexo has already seen a number of former employees rejoin the company after spending time away with other organizations. Amy Davin Cho, Senior Recruiter, is one such employee. Amy stated that she missed our company’s culture that truly embraces the values of service, team spirit and progress. She was also seeking better work-life balance. She believes the Reconnexions Alumni Community will help former Sodexo employees stay connected to Sodexo and learn about potential employment opportunities. We hope to attract even more former employees like Amy back to Sodexo through this new initiative.
