Originally begun as a movement to reduce meat consumption in the U.S., Meatless Monday has become a popular trend throughout the U.S.

Companies Investing in Leadership Development despite Economic Uncertainties

A recent poll of corporate human resource (HR) practitioners and leaders found that more than 98 percent of those surveyed anticipate either maintaining current spending or investing modest increases in their management training initiatives in 2011.

Sodexo Earns Award for Engaging Hard-to-Reach Employees

Meeting the challenges of engaging more than 120,000 employees working at more than 6,000 separate client sites scattered across the United States has earned Sodexo Melcrum’s 2011 Employee Engagement Award for the Best Strategy for Engaging Hard-to-Reach Employees. In 2010, at a time when many companies were experiencing a decline in employee engagement due to the poor economy, Sodexo had an overall five percentage point increase to an already-high level of employee engagement.

Sodexo and Kent Denver School Unveil First-of-Its-Kind Energy-Saving Dining Facility

Sodexo and the Kent Denver school, a college-preparatory day school in Englewood, Colo., recently unveiled the first LEED Platinum free-standing dining facility in the world. The Kent Denver Dining Hall is first-of-its-kind in that it will use approximately 50 percent less energy and water than a typical building, and was constructed using environmentally-friendly, sustainably-produced and/or locally-sourced materials.
